Salvatori releases You Lie

Informed by his Toronto-based activism and relationships with the unhoused, Salvatori’s You Lie is an exploration of the cruelty, injustice and greed surrounding homelessness. The album is characterized by engaging though unusual soundscapes (composed by Peter Bull), including elements of reggae, jazz, rock and blues.

Each track features Salvatori—in a dark spoken word style, occasionally fused with song—difficult stories, societal observations and, reflecting the title of the album frustrations over the dishonesty of political leadership that claims to care for the homeless. Unlike his debut album Don’t Rush It (2019), You Lie is sombre throughout, inviting listeners to think about the unnecessary suffering of homelessness and how to end it.

Salvatori thanks FACTOR (the Foundation Assisting Talent on Recordings) for their generous funding of and guidance in the production of You Lie. The album is dedicated to Domenico Saxida, who sadly passed away last December and for whom “Domenico” and “Domenico II” on the album are written.
